Company offsites at Ventura TRAVEL have been part of our culture since 2012. What began as a four-week gathering in Costa Rica has evolved into a focused two-week format designed for impact and collaboration. Over the years, our offsites have grown with the company. Participation has always been linked to shared goals. Since 2025, the offsite runs on a fixed budget with a minimum of 50 participants, ensuring commitment, clarity, and fairness. Today, our company offsite remains a key moment to connect teams, align direction, and work better together.

The decision to introduce a company offsite in 2012 was made for operational reasons. At the time, budget responsibility lay with a small executive group, and there was significant debate about whether the investment should instead go into team expansion or other growth initiatives.
The offsite was approved as a structured working format with defined objectives. Its purpose was to align teams, establish shared processes, and support collaboration across a growing organization. It was never intended as a leisure event or a benefit for personal enjoyment.
In hindsight, the decision to invest in a company offsite proved essential. It enabled effective coordination, strengthened accountability, and created a stable foundation for long-term business development at Ventura TRAVEL.

Peru-Bolivia
Next Offsite - 2026
The next offsite celebrates 25 years of Viventura and the origins of Ventura TRAVEL. We follow the first breakthrough route through Lima, Arequipa, Lake Titicaca, and La Paz. Two working weeks, a milestone celebration, and deep connection to the communities that shaped our journey.

Thailand
Offsite 2024
Around 50 team members joined the company offsite in Thailand, starting in Bangkok with structured work sessions in hotel conference rooms. The program included a coordinated welcome evening and a guided scavenger hunt designed to support team interaction. The group then traveled to Chiang Mai for a second week focused on workshops, training, and cross-team project work. Days were dedicated to defined objectives, with evenings offering space to continue exchange and strengthen collaboration.

Egypt
Mini Offsite 2022
In October 2022, teams spent two intensive weeks together in Egypt, combining workshops, training sessions, and project work with shared experiences across Cairo and Luxor. Time spent exploring historic neighborhoods, traveling together on overnight trains, and sailing on the Nile strengthened collaboration beyond daily routines. The offsite was run as a mini offsite, meaning participation was limited to around 20 people due to capacity constraints, with selection based on internal team challenges held in advance.

Lima
Mini Offsite 2019
In October 2019, around 20 team members traveled to Lima for a two-week mini offsite after the company missed its Q1 goals. The offsite became special in an unexpected way, as we swapped offices with a Peruvian company that worked from our Berlin office at the same time. Days were spent working closely together, while afternoons and evenings were filled with Lima’s food scene, local excursions, and time with our Peruvian hosts. It was a focused, personal offsite that strengthened collaboration and cross-cultural connection.

South Africa
Offsite 2018
The South Africa offsite was split between one week in Cape Town and one week in Johannesburg. In Cape Town, the team worked from a special location with a large garden, which quickly became a favorite space for collaboration and shared breaks. The annual town hall took place during the offsite, making it a key moment for alignment and company-wide exchange. The flight to Cape Town already set the tone, feeling like the plane belonged entirely to the team and marking the start of an intense and memorable week together.

Morocco
Offsite 2017
The Morocco offsite was designed as a family-friendly edition, with many team members choosing to bring their families along. While work sessions took place during the day, lunch breaks and evenings were spent together with partners and children, who quickly formed their own little community. We stayed at a beach hotel in Saidia, close to the Algerian border, where the hotel team supported us with everything we needed. The mix of focused work, family time, and shared moments made this offsite unique, and the farewell evening became legendary.

Mexico
Offsite 2016
The Riviera Maya offsite was a defining moment. We spent up to three weeks in a beachfront hotel in Riviera Maya, with vMembers choosing to stay for two or three weeks. The first week was dedicated to the strategy meeting, with results shared company-wide the following week. It was the first offsite with a true Ventura vibe, as the brand had just launched and teams flew in from across South America and Europe. We worked hard, celebrated big moments, and enjoyed a rare mix of focus, energy, and joy that made these weeks truly magical.

Brazil
Offsite 2015
After two years of not reaching the offsite goal, returning to an offsite in Arraial do Cabo felt like a huge relief. We spent three weeks together, renting three houses near the ocean. The setup was simple, with shared rooms and basic chairs for working during the day, but none of that mattered. What counted was being together again, seeing everyone in one place, and working side by side as a company. The location was beautiful, the connection was strong, and the offsite became a true milestone in bringing the team back together.

Costa Rica
Offsite 2012
The first company offsite took place in Costa Rica and lasted four weeks at a time when remote work was still technically challenging. To keep customer operations running, teams rotated between the first and second two weeks, while a full company reunion in the middle marked the largest in-person town hall in our history. Hosted at La Luna Hotel by a trusted local partner, some colleagues stayed for the entire month. Bringing together teams from Quito, Arequipa, Berlin, and beyond showed us the real value of working side by side and made it clear that offsites would become a permanent part of how we work.
Today, our offsites follow a clear structure while leaving room for energy, spontaneity, and connection. They are intense working weeks designed to bring teams together, focus on what matters, and strengthen how we collaborate across locations.
Two weeks, one or two locations
Offsites last two weeks and usually take place in one or two locations. During the offsite, every vMember can take one vacation day to recharge or explore independently.
Not a normal workweek
Offsites are not about day-to-day operations. The focus is on team project work, trainings, workshops, and company-wide topics that benefit from working together in person.
Long days, shared energy
Days are long and intense. Regular working sessions often flow into evening activities, either centrally organized or spontaneously created by vMembers themselves.
Who can join
There is always a guaranteed offsite with at least 50 participants. If the Q1 sales goal is reached, the offsite opens to everyone who joined the company before the offsite starts.
How participants are selected
When participation is limited, spots are defined through internal games that take place in January. These games create transparency and engagement long before the offsite begins.
Partners are welcome
Partners are welcome to join the offsite. They cover their own costs and take part in the shared experience alongside the team.
Organizing an offsite is a structured process. It combines clear ownership, defined objectives, and professional travel planning to ensure that time together is focused, effective, and well prepared.

The destination is announced Each year, the next offsite destination is announced during the town hall. The location is selected by the offsite organizer after collecting input from vMembers and aligning the budget with the executive team.

The January game In January, HR runs an internal game that determines the 50 guaranteed vMembers who can join the offsite. It is a fun but transparent way to decide participation early on.

Waiting for Q1 results After that, we wait for the Q1 sales results. If the goal is reached, the offsite opens to everyone. This means a larger organization team, a bigger location, and expanded logistics.

The field trip The vMember responsible for the offsite travels to the destination in advance. They identify the right accommodation and working spaces and negotiate with airlines and partners to make everything fit within the budget.

Building the program Once the framework is set, the detailed program comes together. This includes workshops, sightseeing, room planning, logistics, and all the small details. And yes, it always includes one big party.

Execution and retro During the offsite, not everything goes as planned. Luggage gets lost, strikes happen, plans change. We solve problems together on the ground. Afterward, we sit down for a retro to capture what worked and what we want to improve for the next year.

Ericka
Offsite Organizer
Organizing the offsite is honestly one of my favorite parts of my work. I love the research beforehand, finding the right places, and negotiating with local partners to make everything come together. But the best moment is seeing the smiles on people’s faces during the offsite. For me, this is not just an event. It’s an essential part of our company culture
Joining the offsite starts with joining the company. Offsites are designed to bring teams together who actively work with each other and contribute to shared goals.
If the company reaches its Q1 sales target, the offsite opens to everyone who joined before the offsite starts. In years with limited capacity, participation is defined through the January game, with a guaranteed group of 50 vMembers.
Offsites are not a one-time benefit. They are part of how we work as a distributed company and how new team members become part of the culture. Joining the offsite means stepping into collaboration, shared responsibility, and real connection from the start.
